Xiaoyan Wang, MD, PHD

Fudan University, Postdoctoral Fellow, Shanghai, China

Research interest: clinical and basic research on heart failure and cardiac remodeling, translational cardiovascular medicine, epidemiology

Dr. Xiaoyan Wang is now a postdoctoral fellow at Fudan University. She has been selected as Super Postdoctoral Fellow of Fudan University and is supported by Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of CPSF. Meanwhile, she has been selected into the Harvard University Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program. She conducts a project sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and participates in several projects sponsored by NSFC. Her research findings have been presented multiple times through oral and poster communications at both domestic and international conferences. She has received the third prize in the 8th "Buchang Cup" Young Physician Competition and the Late Breaking Cohort Studies award at the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS) Annual Meeting.

Before working as postdoctoral fellow, she used to be a cardiologist at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and as a physician internist at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. Both hospitals are ranked among the top 10 in China, and have higher requirements for scientific research.

For clinical research, she has an interesting start. She used to be a medical editor in DXY website, which is the largest website for doctors in China. During this period, she had many opportunities to communicate with the investigators about their work. This valuable experience spurred her interest in clinical research. Later she returned to school for a master's degree, focusing on clinical research in cardiovascular interventional therapy. Her master supervisor is Prof. Yaling Han, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who has made several breakthroughs in cardiovascular interventional therapy. During this period, she participated in several national important projects and learned the basics of clinical research. She published several clinical research papers as the first author or co-author. Moreover, she worked as a section editor in AME publishing company and contacted with many outstanding young investigators on the design of clinical trial and statistical method, which greatly broadened her horizons.

Her PhD mentor is Prof. Yunzeng Zou, who has made several breakthroughs in basic cardiovascular research, held project supported by the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, and he also was selected as a Yangtze River Scholar by the Ministry of Education. During this period, she led several researches and won some awards for her academic achievements. This experience deepened her understanding of the connection between clinical research and basic research.

Dr. Xiaoyan Wang is a highly self-motivated scholar with a strong interest and passion in becoming an excellent researcher in translational cardiovascular medicine.
