Dr. Rezende graduated from Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil. He finished Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital São Paulo, Federal University of São Paulo in 2007 and Cardiology residency at the Heart Institute (InCor), University of São Paulo, in 2010. He finished his PhD at the Heart Institute (InCor) in 2015, studying ischemic preconditioning in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Health Research and Policy, at Stanford University, USA, in 2016. He is currently a Clinical Researcher at the MASS (Medicine, Angioplasty, or Surgery) Research Group, and a Collaborating Professor of the Cardiology Department at the University of São Paulo since 2016.

Dr. Rezende’s research focuses on stable coronary artery disease, treatments for coronary artery disease, ischemic preconditioning and type 2 diabetes mellitus. He is involved in some clinical trials such as MASS II, MASS III, MASS V trials, and NHLBI-sponsored multicenter clinical trials, such as FREEDOM and ISCHEMIA trials. He has been the reviewer of Medicine, Journal of Thoracic Disease, Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, and Clinics.
